SBDA
(Ski Boat Drivers Award)
What
is SBDA?
The
SBDA is comparable to the ordinary car driving test and represents the basic
level of competency to drive safely. The scheme was developed by British Water
Ski in order to raise the awareness of ski boat drivers responsibility. British Water Ski have developed the SBDA scheme with the
approval of the Marine Safety Agency and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, who
are responsible to the Department of Environment, Transport and Regions.
Do
I need one?
The
SBDA Scheme is voluntary at present, although most water ski clubs and bodies
controlling the use of water, are making the possession of an SBDA compulsory.
If you drive a ski boat either on inland or coastal waters, and you tow
skiers than BWS advise that you take an SBDA.
Where
can I take my SBDA?
Bomere is
a registered SBDA Test Centre and has the benefit of an experienced Instructor
conducting the tuition on site and
the expertise from one of the UK’s leading figures in water skiing as Chief
Examiner.
